Your special someone has finally popped the big question, "Will you marry me?" and ever since your life has been going full speed with planning! That being said, there's one day that you can look forward to being a full oasis of calm: the engagement session. Although my packages include complimentary engagement sessions, not everyone opts for it. I'm here to remind you why you should totally do an engagement session!

  • Getting to know your photographer!

Your wedding photographer plays a huge role in your wedding, they will be with you the entire day. You will spend more time with them than anyone else, even your fiancé! In some cases, couples don't meet with their photographer until the day of. In my professional opinion, I wouldn't recommend doing that. Meeting your photographer for your engagement session eases any nerves that you may have + you can ask any questions that you may have about the photography on your big day!

  • You'll get rid of camera jitters!

Getting your photo taken can be SERIOUSLY nerve wracking! I try to step in front of the camera at least twice a year and I still sometimes get nervous. It's perfectly normal, especially, if you've never had photos taken before. We aren't celebrities, we aren't used to being photographed 24/7! Engagement sessions help ease the nerves. You'll know what to expect when your wedding day rolls around!

  • Save the Dates!

An engagement session photos are perfect for your "Save the Dates"! Instead of using a plain template that you found online, you can send out a totally unique picture of yourself and your fiancé! You'll be impressed and your guests will be impressed. It's a win, win ;)

  • The Season Factor!

When you choose to have an engagement session in a different season than your wedding, that is known as the season factor. For example, you may be getting married in Fall and choose to do your engagement photos in Spring. This allows for as much variety as possible! This can vary for each couple and what their preference is. Not everyone chooses this path and that's totally okay!

  • Decor!

Using your engagement photos is a simple, unique way to decorate your home. You can hang your photos on your walls, fireplaces, etc. My personal favorite is gifting them to parents and grandparents and watching them decorate their home with your photos! It's a very special feeling. Some even keep them in their heirloom boxes so they can periodically walk down memory lane!

  • Date time!

Yep, in my opinion, engagement sessions count as dates. Yes, there may, technically, be a third-wheel photographer but you're still being lovey-dovey with each other! This may seem silly to just have an engagement session for this reason alone, but it's not! Think about it, this is a time slot marked off that you get to spend with the person you love the most! You'll both get to experience it with each other for the very first time and that's the best type of date!!
