I don’t remember the first time I watched “Fried Green Tomatoes”. I do remember the first time I actually paid attention(yep, I’m one of those people) Let me just say, I bawled. I’m talking serious waterworks, folks. Ruth would’ve sympathized and Idgie would’ve totally laughed at me.
If you haven’t watched this movie or read the book, PLEASE do so! It’s set during the early 1930s/1990s and based in Alabama. The movie stars: Kathy Bates, Cicely Tyson, Jessica Tandy, Mary-Louise Parker, and Mary Stuart Masterson. If that doesn’t convince you to watch, I don’t know what will.
I had a wedding this past weekend, you’ll see those photos very soon, and decided to make a pit stop on the way down. It was about 9am when we made it and, unfortunately, they are closed on Wednesdays. I didn’t get to eat my Bennett BBQ or have my sweet tea at the Whistle Stop Cafe but I’ll be back! I did seize the opportunity to take photos, of course! We were the only people there. So, if you’re looking to avoid large crowds, this is a great time to stop.
