First looks are un-traditional and sometimes frowned upon by older generations. Most older generations, and some younger, want THE REACTION! Yep, you know the one. It's almost a standard now that a guy has to react! There's absolutely nothing wrong with that! Some love tradition and want to to stick to that during the actual ceremony! Before I became a photographer, I was one of those people! After experiencing numerous weddings, I've come to the conclusion that almost everyone wants that reaction but think that it won't happen if they see each other before the wedding. This is the furthest thing from the truth! If anything, there will be more of a genuine, intimate reaction!

The stress on a bride and groom is hard to imagine if you haven't been in that place yourself. Right before the ceremony? That's usually when it really starts to hit, especially for the groom. The last remaining drop of calm starts to slip away. So what happens? The planner or coordinator sends the groom out to his spot where he will find 80-300 people just staring right at him! When she starts walking up the aisle, the reaction is the furthest thing from intimate. Is it powerful and sweet? Of course! Imagine the same reaction with just the intimacy of you both and no one else! Plus, the nerves will have almost completely calmed. Still on the fence? Here are some more reasons why I'm ALL FOR A FIRST LOOK!

  • The best investment!

You're investing a lot into your wedding. Especially, with all the vendors. When you do a first look, you get 50% more portraits of just the two of you! These usually are the images you decorate your home with. These will be the images that you children and grandchildren will grow up with and love!

  • "You" time!

You'll actually get intimate time with your fiancé! Most people think walking down the aisle is the most emotional part of the day. What most people don't realize is that 9/10 they are so in shock over the gorgeousness of you and all the beauty, that they don't get to tell you, touch you, embrace you, or even talk to you! You guys have to wait 40 minutes later after gazing into each other's eyes and initial reaction is gone! First looks allow you to be together on your wedding day and be all lovey dovey!

  • Extending your big day!

With a first look, you'll extend your wedding day by 3 hours! Instead of feeling super rushed with your bridal portraits, you can ENJOY them and not have to worry about having enough time in the day to fit romantic portraits in! Less stress on a wedding day is a must!
